Who do I see? Get the right help and advice

NHS 111

If you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do, NHS 111 can help.

111 is the free NHS non-emergency service that helps you get urgent medical help or advice. It is available every day, 24 hours a day.

Use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk) or call 111 if:

  • you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency

  • you think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service

  • you don’t know who to call or you don’t have a GP to call

  • you need health information or reassurance about what to do next.

A specially trained NHS111 advisor will assess your symptoms. Depending on your needs they can give you healthcare advice, signpost you to another service or they may be able to make an appointment for you at a hospital, urgent treatment centre or GP practice. They can also arrange an ambulance if needed.
